This might be the best thing to come out of "Chanetastrophe 2013" so far.
Apparently WDRB's Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford were working out of the Highlands Starbucks Monday afternoon when Behanan sauntered in wearing "jeans and a Cincinnati Reds t-shirt." And that's how the first direct quote from the man at the center of the biggest (or at least second-biggest) sports story in the city of Louisville came about.
Suspended University of Louisville power forward Chane Behanan told WDRB's Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford today that he's "working hard" and that he's "positive" he will earn his way back onto the University of Louisville basketball team.
...
He said he watched Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage on television, and that he plans to begin reading Pitino's new book, "The One-Day Contract" on Tuesday.
Bozich said, "I just saw you at media day a few days earlier and things looked good."
Behanan replied, "Things happen."
Sadly, I can attest to the fact that there was zero major U of L sports news breaking from the Highlands Krispy Kreme Monday morning, or at least the drive-thru. Their Halloween "Krispy Scream" doughnuts do, however, remain delicious.
Though I don't think there's any way he sees the court for Louisville in the month of November, this leaves me more convinced than ever that Chane Behanan will eventually be a member of the 2013-14 Cardinal basketball team again. You just have to hope that this becomes an early-season situation akin to Gorgui Dieng's injury last year where guys pick up additional experience that helps the team in the long-run.
Also, if it's not news coming out of the Highlands Starbucks, then it's probably not worth listening to.
