Louisville, Marshall Push Scheduled 2014 Game Back To 2016

In news that was originally reported over the summer, Louisville and Marshall will not play their scheduled football game in Huntington next season. The two universities announced Tuesday that the game has been rescheduled for Sept. 24, 2016.

U of L's move to the ACC and its subsequent landing of Notre Dame on the 2014 schedule set up a situation where the Cardinals were scheduled to play five non-conference games on top of an eight-game league schedule. Obviously those numbers don't add up to 12, so a move had to be made to facilitate the change.

Pushing the Marshall game two years back should also allow for Louisville to have six games at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in 2014.

Louisville is already scheduled to host non-conference games next season against Kentucky and Murray State, and will hit the road for games at Florida International and the previously mentioned contest at Notre Dame. U of L's first ACC schedule will consist of home games against Florida State, Miami, North Carolina State and Wake Forest, and road games at Clemson, Boston College, Virginia and Syracuse.
