Central Florida's Sack Leader Leaves Team

Douglas Jones-US PRESSWIRE

Freshman defensive end Blake Keller quit the Central Florida football team on Monday, telling head coach George O'Leary: "I don't love football anymore."

Keller made his first start of the season last Saturday against Memphis and recorded two sacks. He was leading the team in that category with three.

"I was surprised," O'Leary said during his Monday press conference. "I had no idea anything was going on, none of the coaches did either. A lot of it stemmed from other issues."

Although the loss of Keller, who had eight total tackles, hurts, UCF is extremely deep at the defensive end position. With Keller gone they will lean more on Thomas Niles, Deion Green and freshman Seyvon Lowry, who had a sack against Memphis. Redshirt freshman Luke Adams will also work back into the rotation as he comes back from injury.
