Somewhat surprising news from the world of recruiting where word is all over the place that Louisville has stopped recruiting elite class of 2013 point guard Anthony "Cat" Barber.
Barber, a five-star prospect from Hampton, Va., had consistently listed U of L among his favorites and took an official visit to the school last weekend. He will now choose between Kansas, Alabama and NC State.
While Rick Pitino and company backing off a recruit immediately following an official visit is rare, it's certainly not unheard of - think Quincy Miller/Deuce Bello from a couple of years ago.
The move would seem to be good news for JuCo point guard Chris Jones, whom Pitino paid an in-house visit on Sunday. Jones will reportedly be visiting U of L this weekend.
"I play just like them, so I could fit in perfect with them," Jones told the C-J on Monday. "... I like the up-tempo offense. It's what I played in high school and juco, so I feel like I could come in and be an impact player, and (Pitino) believes the same thing."
It's sounding more and more like Jones will be the successor to Peyton Siva and the guy battling Quentin Snider for the job in 2014-15.
