Charlie Strong Talks About The "Outstanding Challenge" Presented By North Carolina

The C-J has the video, but here are the highlights from today's press conference with Charlie Strong.

--North Carolina is an outstanding challenge for our team. They're a very talented team and another run which runs a very explosive, hurry up offense.

--Has a great deal of respect for head coach Larry Fedora.

--Renner started against us last year and he does a tremendous job. They also have two very talented backs and one of the biggest offensive lines that we will have faced since I've been here.

--They have a lot of heigh at wide receiver so they're going to throw the ball up high. They'll alos throw a lot of bubble screens to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers. The thing we can't do is give up the big play.

--They're very aggressive and very solid on defense.

--This weekend we'll find out exactly where we are as a football program and what the steps are in order to make the changes we need to make.

--Last week we weren't very consistent. We have to work on that.

--When you look at nationally ranked teams, you like for them to be junior/senior heavy teams, and we're not that. We have to keep growing and maturing. To be honest, I really don't know where we are right now. Week one we were really good, then week two we were really inconsistent, so you have to look at us and think that we still have a lot of growing up to do.

--There was improvement on defense last weekend, but offensively we never got into a rhythm and take control of the game.

--Teddy missed some open receivers and missed some throws that he should have made.

--Renner has a really strong arm and he's really good off of play action.

--Singles out Andrell Smith as a wide receiver who's playing very well.

--Jeremy Wright's ankle injury was more of a scare than anything which is why he was able to come back in the game.

--Being lined up in the right place on defense is the most important part of defending a spread team like North Carolina.

--I don't know how good we are, but I think the players deserve their national ranking because of how hard they've worked.

--Keith Brown did not play this past week because of a hamstring injury.

--Was so happy for Nate Nord to make that touchdown catch after dropping the one earlier in the game. He's been in the program for so long and worked so hard, and that was great to see.

--Won't know until later on in the week whether or not Dominique Brown will be able to play on Saturday. If he's able to play, then he'll play.

--Refers to Damian Copeland's hair as "that honey mustard."

--When you come into a game like this one, you want to make sure that guys understand just how big it is. I've been telling them, "people think you're the 19th ranked team in the country, let's start carrying ourselves like it, let's start acting like it."

--If you say you want to change the program, if you say you want to change the culture, this week is a great opportunity.
