The Big East has released the opponents and sites for its 2012-13 college basketball slate, and predictably Louisville was picked for home-and-home dates with two of the league's preseason favorites.
The Cards' "mirror opponents" - the teams they will face twice - this upcoming season will be Syracuse, Notre Dame, Seton Hall and South Florida. The Orange and Irish are expected to be near the top of the standings with Louisville when the league's preseason poll is released later this year.
The news also means that U of L gets another shot at winning inside the Joyce Center, the only road venue where the Cards haven't tasted victory since joining the Big East in 2005-06.
Louisville's home conference schedule for this season will be made up of: Cincinnati, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, USF and Syuracuse. The Cardinals' nine league road games will be at Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Seton Hall, USF, Syracuse and Villanova.
With West Virginia gone to the Big 12 and just 15 basketball-playing programs remaining in the league, each team will face 10 opponents once and four twice this season.
So DePaul Day 2013 will be in Chicago. And the parade planning begins. Clear your schedule, Grand Marshall Quentin Bailey.
