Dick Vitale has already gone on record with Louisville as his No. 1 team heading into the 2012-13 season, which means, well, nothing. Andy Katz's opinion has equally little bearing on where the Cards will be slotted heading into next year's campaign, but it's still cool to see U of L earn such a lofty status in ESPN's first of many way-too-early rankings for next season.
2. Louisville
The Cardinals reached the Final Four despite a number of injuries and eligibility issues. They showed tremendous resolve and were a terrific team at home. Rick Pitino couldn't be too upset over the loss to Kentucky because he knows this team can be right back here next season. Can you imagine if Indiana and Louisville, near neighbors, are 1 and 2? Could happen. Peyton Siva should be Big East preseason player of the year and UL is only losing Kyle Kuric and Chris Smith. Plus, Wayne Blackshaer will be around for a whole season.
The Cards are situated just ahead of Kansas, Kentucky and Ohio State, and behind only No. 1 Indiana.
I'm traveling home (thank God, New Orleans is amazing, but four days here feels like about four months) for most of the day, so posting will again be light until the evening.
YouTube search "Teddy Bridgewater" for a good time.
