In a direct reflection of just how sensational 2012 has been for U of L athletics, for the first time ever there were too many quality candidates to name the Card Chronicle Man of the Year through a straight vote.
So what happens now? An accelerated eight-entity tournament that will begin today and wrap up on the 27th in order to give the UK game the full attention it demands.
In order to make this happen, the voting will have to be quick. All four quarterfinal matches will be unveiled, and the voting for each will close 24 hours later.
The tournament will be seeded based on your nominations, although those seeds made won't be made public in order to avoid bias. You also shouldn't pay any attention to the order in which the candidates are presented. There will also be no bios, as I'm sure you're all fully aware of the credentials of each participant.
Having said all that, here is your first matchup:
GORGUI DIENG
VS.
TEDDY BRIDGEWATER
Nobody said it was easy...no one ever said it would be this hard.
Polls close in 24 hours.
