The ACC's Approval Of Louisville Was Unanimous

Andy Lyons

The Atlantic Coast Conference's presidents and chancellors vote to approve inviting Louisville to the league was a unanimous one, the Associated Press reports.

Word had previously circulated that the addition of U of L had been opposed to some degree by the trio of Duke, Virginia and North Carolina. The resistance of these schools was likely based on Louisville's academic standing.

Even with that being the case, it's nice to know that no institution was so adamant about Louisville not joining the conference that they voted against U of L when it had already become clear they would hit the magic 75% approval mark.

Though no official announcement has been made for when Louisville will join the ACC, the most likely date is when Maryland leaves in 2014. This would make the 2014-15 season U of L's first in the conference.
