Katz: Louisville interested in keeping Big East together

New, comments

Andy Katz just released a story about the conference call the nine remaining Big 12 athletic directors had Thursday night, the main gist of it being that the ADs are looking for long term stability and will meet again next week.

There's nothing particularly significant as far as Louisville is concerned...until the final paragraph.

BYU, TCU and Louisville have all been mentioned as possibilities to join the Big 12. But Louisville, a source told ESPN.com, is interested in keeping Big East together with service academies to fill void left by Pitt and Syracuse.

If U of L is competing for one of the precious Big 12 expansion spots, this probably isn't news that's going to help its cause.

Maybe Rick Pitino will get his wish.
