Gary Harris says Louisville doesn't have a scholarship for him

Jody Demling spoke with Gary Harris Sr. - the father of Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.) star Gary Harris - this afternoon, and the elder Harris stated that Kentucky, Indiana, Purdue and Michigan State are the schools with a chance at landing his son.

But what about Louisville? Rick Pitino paid Harris an in-house visit just a little over a week ago.

Harris Sr., said Louisville was no longer in the mix because the family was told they had one scholarship and then Terry Rozier committed.

Interesting, since this is obviously not the case. Pitino and Wyking Jones had an in-house visit with California center Robert Upshaw earlier this week, and are still actively recruiting a handful of players in the class of 2012. Rozier is the only player in the class who has signed with Louisville at this point.

The only thing I can think of is that Pitino was only looking to use one scholarship on a guard, and Rozier snatched that one up. This might have been the message he was trying to convey to the Harrris'.

It always seemed like landing Harris was a longshot, but it was better than having no shot.
