We already knew Gorgui Dieng was cool (did you see Beach Gorgui yesterday?), but somehow I think we may have drastically underestimated just how awesome the polygot from Senegal is.
Check out these quotes from C.L. Brown's story in the Courier this morning.
"Since we lost to Morehead State — you can ask coach (Ray Ganong) or whoever you want — I don’t take a day off. I just came here and lifted by myself or with Coach G. I do everything I need to get better because I don’t want this to happen again."
"For sure you’re going to have a lot of pressure. But I take it as a good thing for me because the pressure will make me do good and try to get better every single day."
"I was playing last year, but I didn’t understand a lot of stuff. But this year I think it will be different. If you know what you’re doing, it’s easier to get to where you want to be."
"I feel more comfortable now in the low post, better than last year. Last year I wasn’t that strong to control my position. … When you gain a good weight, you are able to do that, you can do everything."
"I don’t want to let the team down like in front of 22,000 people. I will try to do the best I can. I’m not saying that I will carry the team by myself, but I’m going to do the best I can to achieve our goals this year."
Kid has the potential to be an all-time fan favorite by the time he graduates.
Beach Gorgui!
