Charlie Strong lands a punter

Joshua Appleby, a punter from Athens, Ala., has committed to Louisville according to Scout.com.

Appleby, one of the highest-rated special teams players in the class of 2012, chose the Cardinals over in-state rival Kentucky and others. He also drew interest from Florida, Alabama, and Texas, who all reportedly said they'd offer a scholarship if he visited their camps.

As a junior in 2010, Appleby averaged 35 yards per punt, with a long of 52. Additionally, he knocked 71% of his kickoffs into the endzone and connected on 6-of-9 field goal attempts.

Appleby becomes the 8th member of Charlie Strong's recruiting class of 2012.
