Shoni Schimmel, who is now liberally being referred to as "The Female Jimmer," scored a career-high 33 points as the Louisville women's team upset second-seeded Xavier on the Musketeers' home floor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Xavier had won 25 in a row at home, including a 12-point victory over Louisville in November. That streak, which dated back to 2009, ended thanks to Schimmel, who went 12 of 18 from the field and 6 of 11 from behind the arc. The freshman guard topped her previous career-high by seven.
The ladies now move on to the Sweet 16 where they'll face No. 11 Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash. on Saturday night at 9 p.m.
Will, thoughts?
