Preston Knowles will have surgery on Friday

Here's the release from U of L:

University of Louisville senior guard Preston Knowles will have surgery at Jewish Hospital in Louisville on Friday to help repair his left foot injured in the Cardinals' season finale.

The surgery includes inserting two screws in his left midfoot to hold bones together while ruptured ligaments can heal. Known as a "Lisfranc" injury, Knowles suffered the impairment with 8:51 remaining in the Cardinals' NCAA Tournament second round game against Morehead State while stepping on another player's foot. He will be placed in a non-weight bearing cast for 8-12 weeks before beginning rehabilitation.

The Cardinals' team captain during their 25-10 season, Knowles averaged a team-high 14.6 points while burying 100-of-261 three-point goals, the third-most ever in a single season at U of L. He was an All-BIG EAST second team selection, USBWA All-District IV choice and NABC All-District 5 second team pick. He was honored on the BIG EAST All-Tournament team when he averaged 17.7 points and 3.7 assists in helping the Cardinals reach the championship game.

For those wondering, yes, it's slightly difficult to type with a single tear rolling down the left side of your face.
