Cards rise in both polls

On the strength of a pair of Big East-opening victories, Louisville has entered the top 20 of both major polls. The Cards are 17th in the coaches' poll and 18th in the AP.

Syracuse (4), Pitt (5), Villanova (7), Connecticut (9/10), Notre Dame (9/11), Georgetown (19/22), and Cincinnati (25) again make it eight ranked Big East teams. West Virginia received votes in both polls, while St. John's got four from the AP.

Duke is again the unanimous No. 1 in both polls.
