U of L and Churchill Downs team up for ticket package

Next-door neighbors Churchill Downs and the University of Louisville are joining forces to offer their fans "Pigskins & Ponies Presented by Kroger", a special ticket package to a November weekend of exciting Cardinal football and spectacular racing at the home of the Kentucky Derby.

For just $25 per person, fans who purchase the limited "Pigskins & Ponies Presented by Kroger" ticket package will enjoy an ultimate Louisville fall sports weekend as they watch Coach Charlie Strong's football Cardinals take on Big East Conference rival South Florida on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, followed by an exciting day of Fall Meet Thoroughbred racing at Churchill Downs on Sunday, Nov. 14. "Pigskins & Ponies" provides a seat in the new upper deck of the expanded Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for U of L football's game against the Bulls, and a reserved seat (with racing program) on Millionaires Row or Skye Terrace for Sunday's racing.

In addition, fans who purchase these limited ticket packages will receive a commemorative "Pigskins & Ponies" fleecie, a sleeved fleece blanket in Cardinal red bearing the distinctive logos of Churchill Downs' historic Twin Spires and the U of L Cardinal. This sure to be popular fleecie giveaway will be provided only to those who purchase a "Pigskins & Ponies" ticket package and will not be offered for sale or in any subsequent Churchill Downs Fall Meet giveaway.

Fans who purchase the "Pigskins and Ponies Presented by Kroger" ticket package can pick up their commemorative fleecie at Churchill Downs prior to the big weekend. The fleecies will be available for pick-up at the track from Wednesday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 14 which will allow those fans to take their fleecies to the U of L football game on Nov. 13.

"Pigskin and Ponies" purchasers will be advised via e-mail of specific pick-up times and location. The "Pigskins & Ponies" weekend will include a halftime drawing at the stadium for a box seat to the 2011 runnings of the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. During Sunday's races, fans will have the opportunity to participate in on-track drawings before each of the day's 10 races for tickets to 2011 Cardinal home football games. Mascot Churchill Charlie will appear at the stadium during the football game, while U of L's Cardinal Bird and U of L cheerleaders will be at the track on Sunday. The limited "Pigskins & Ponies Presented by Kroger" ticket packages are available for purchase now through Churchill Downs online ticket office at http://tickets.churchilldowns.com/pigskinsandponies.

Kickoff time for the Saturday Cardinal football matchup against South Florida on Saturday, Nov. 13 has yet to be set, while post time for racing at Churchill Downs on Sunday, Nov. 14 is 12:40 p.m. (EST).
