NOTABLE

--Louisville captured its first win of the Charlie Strong era with a 23-13 win over Eastern Kentucky at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals scored 23 second quarter points to hold off a late EKU rally. The Louisville defense held the Colonels to just 230 yards of total offense and registered eight total sacks, including 4.5 by senior defensive end Rodney Gnat. The defense also held the Colonels to only 92 yards on the ground and just 2.6 yards per carry. EKU was just 11-for- 23 for just 138 yards through the air.

--For the second-straight game, senior running back Bilal Powell paced the Cardinals with 92 yards on 16 carries, but did find the end zone twice from two and three yards out. Senior quarterback Adam Froman completed 15-of-23 passes for 219 yards, including the first career touchdown reception by senior Doug Beaumont.

--The Beavers had a week off after opening their season on Sept. 4 with a 30-21 defeat against TCU in Dallas. TCU’s Andy Dalton ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score to make up for his two interceptions to lead TCU past the Beavers. Brothers Jacquizz and James Rodgers both scored touchdowns for Oregon State in their first college game in their home state. Jacquizz Rogers ran 18 times for 75 yards and James Rogers had four catches for 75 yards.

Quotable

--"It’s hard for me to believe anyone would think of this as a trap game. This is our Super Bowl. We have to play our best every week. Being that much of a favorite is based more on recent history than the present. There’s not a lot of basis for any of that right now." --Mike Riley

--"It's critical you take your defense with you because when you're on the road the crowd is a factor. The only way you can take the crowd out of the game is the defense has to play well. You have to take your special teams, and then you take your togetherness. You've got to play as a complete team." --Charlie Strong

--"If we can execute on first down and stay out of those third downs … I think we'll be all right." --Victor Anderson

--"It’s a whole new era, but the coaches don’t forget. Most of our coaching staff was a part of that (2005) debacle. But carrying revenge into a game, it’s over once the kickoff starts." --Mike Riley

CC Prediction: Oregon State 33, Louisville 10
