Quick Tuesday trip around the Cardinal universe

New, comments

DeAntre Rhodes has officially failed to qualify for next season and is headed to a junior college. A huge blow to U of L's depth on its defensive line.

Rhodes not being able to dona Cardinal uniform hurts, but it would also make the ineligibility of Demar Dorsey or Dominique Brown that much more difficult to stomach.

Louisville commit Zach Price will finish out his high school career at Jeffersontown. Keep that in mind during your fantasy Kentucky high school basketball prep.

Things in the summer league are going about as well as possible for Edgar Sosa, who handed out five assists in 16 minutes and sparked the Pistons to a victory over Golden State on Sunday and followed that performance up with another solid one yesterday. He also made Sportscenter's top plays for a between-the-legs assist to former Georgetown big man Greg Monroe. He's still a long shot (and that's being generous) to make the roster in Detroit, but at least he's generating some buzz and turning some heads.

A guy who may not be a long shot to make an NBA roster is Derrick Caracter, who is averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers and is the talk of Vegas.

Samardo Samuels will make his professional debut with the Chicago Bulls today.

Brian Bennett discusses Louisville's hopes and concerns for the upcoming season...IN PERSON!

Jury selection started yesterday for the Karen Sypher extortion trial, and 15 of the 45 prospective jurors were dismissed by Judge Charles Simpson. The first prospective juror dismissed? You guessed it: Marquis Teague.

Johnny Patrick's court date has been moved to July 30. No word on whether or not CourTV will carry the proceedings, but one can only assume that the answer is yes.
