Cards fall to St. John's, 6-5

Jimmy Parque hit a solo home run in the seventh and a three-RBI single an inning later to spearhead a late rally which propelled No. 4 St. John's to a 6-5 upset of top seed Louisville last night at the Big East baseball tournament in Clearwater, Fla.

The Cards committed an uncharacteristic three errors during the game, and all three runs they surrendered in the decisive eighth inning were unearned.

Louisville now faces South Florida and former coach Lelo Prado tonight at  7 p.m. in an elimination game. The winner will have the task of knocking off St. John's twice in order to advance to Sunday's title game.

Ryan Wright, who had five RBI in U of L's win on Wednesday, was again the offensive star, going 4-for-4 and driving in a pair of runs.

The game ended shortly before 1 a.m.
