Dave Wannstedt announced yesterday that reigning Big East Defensive Player of the Year Greg Romeus will not play this Saturday against Louisville. He had refused to comment on the preseason All-American's status just a day earlier.
Romeus has been out with a back injury since the season-opener, but had recently targeted this weekend for his return.
Romeus, a defensive end, finished last season with 40 tackles (10.5 for losses) and 8 sacks. He also intercepted a pass, forced 2 fumbles, recovered one, broke up four passes, had 11 hurries and blocked a kick.
