The C-J story features the following quote from Fab Melo's high school coach:
"He felt really comfortable with Coach (Jim) Boeheim, (assistant coach) Mike Hopkins and Bernie Fine,'' Sagemont High School coach Adam Ross said. "It really came down to that; feeling comfortable with the coaches and the school and the city.''
Not good.
TNIAAM rejoices...in Portuguese.
Searching for Billy Edelin calls Melo a Carmelo Anthony "replica with a few more inches," which is probably just a bit of a stretch.
The Post-Standard's story seems to hint that Melo may not have been as much of a U of L lean as those in the know made him out to be.
Melo toured the Syracuse University campus on an unofficial visit back in May along with Ross. It was Melo's third unofficial visit to one of the schools on his list. He had also visited Louisville and Connecticut. He later took a trip to the University of Florida's campus.
Ross said the trip to Syracuse erased some of Melo's preconceived notions of the city and the school.
"He was very surprised by the campus and the town,'' Ross said. "When we came out of the Carrier Dome, he said to me "I want to play in this place.''
The Syracuse coaches visited Melo at Sagemont several times this past season. Hopkins and Fine even dropped in on Melo during Syracuse's trip to Miami for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
Uhh, we play Syracuse at Syracuse sometimes, Fabricio. Care to reconsider?
All Cardinal eyes now shift to this guy.
