Eight of Louisville's nine starters had at least one hit as the Cards blew out Notre Dame 12-2 in the second round of the Big East Tournament in Clearwater, Fla.
U of L now advances to the semifinal round where they'll face either the Fighting Irish or St. John's Friday at 10 a.m. So long as the Cards aren't beaten in consecutive games, they will advance to the Big East title game Saturday at 1 p.m.
Catcher Jeff Arnold stayed hot, leading Louisville at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. The home run was Arnold's second in as many postseason games. He belted just one round-tripper in the regular season. Reliever Tyler Mathis picked up the win, working five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six.
Once again it's late May and the Louisville Cardinals are one of the hottest teams in the country.
Watch out.
