It's Big East Media Day in the Big Apple

Today is Big East Media Day in New York, where Rick Pitino, Edgar Sosa and Jerry Smith have made the trip to represent the ''09-'10 Cardinals.

Every now and then a member of the media will get a player or coach to say something controversial, but for the most part the most significant item to come out of these things is the preseason coaches poll and All-Conference selections.

I'd expect Louisville to be voted anywhere from as high as third to as low as fifth (which is where they landed in yesterday's media poll). Samardo will likely be the lone individual honored, probably ending up on the All-Big East second or third team.

Here's how the media saw things yesterday:

1. Villanova 24 (11)
2. West Virginia 31 (6 )
3. Connecticut 58
4. Georgetown 75
5. Louisville 87
6. Syracuse 110
7. Notre Dame 128
8. Cincinnati 137
9. Pittsburgh 140
10. Seton Hall 159
11. St. John’s 191
12. Marquette 195
13. Rutgers 232
14. South Florida 240
15. Providence 242
16. DePaul 268

I might chime in with my ballot later. Or I might not. You'll have to refresh the site 45 times a minute to find out.
