Louisville announces home-and-home deal with Marshall

Three summers ago talk of possible mirror games with Nebraska, Wisconsin or Notre Dame were all the rage. And, of course, the team was actually going to be hosting Miami that September.

Honestly, what hasn't changed since then?

Louisville and Marshall have announced a new home-and-home series beginning in 2011. The Cardinals will play host the Thundering Herd on Oct. 1, 2011, and then travel to Marshall on Sept. 27, 2014.

"I think this is an exciting series for both schools because of the close proximity of the two universities," Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich said in a statement. "It's a short trip from here to Huntington and we were fortunate to secure large number of tickets for our fans interested in making the trip. I think its also a great situation for our fans throughout the state of Kentucky and the Cincinnati area."

At least my my future kids("Arthur" and "Yo" Rutherford) are apparently going to be old enough to appreciate the second coming of Louisville football excitement.

I know, I've been a massive downer since the Kentucky game. Can't help it. I've reached the point where I'm no longer able to maintain a steady hand or rational voice when the topic of Cardinal football comes up.

It's because we care too much, people.

Somebody make me laugh.
