U of L lost out on a chance to land a big-time prospect in its own backyard when Louisville Male speedster Justin Green committed to Ohio State late last night.
Green had previously stated that he was hoping to take his recruitment slow, making Sunday's commitment a bit of a surprise.
“After I got done talking to the coaches [Friday], I really wanted to make a commitment but I wanted to talk about it with my family first,” he said. “Ever since I was little, Ohio State has always been a program I’ve looked up to, but I really hadn’t touched bases with the coaches. That’s why I waited."
Green, who won four state titles at this year's Class AAA State Track & Field Championships, is rated as the sixth-best cornerback prospect in the country by Rivals, and the 67th best prospect overall. He and Trinity linebacker Jordan Whiting - who has also committed to the Buckeyes - are the only Kentuckians ranked in the top 100.
While landing Green would have been enormous, OSU had the inside track from the start, as Green's brother Marcus played on the defensive line in Columbus earlier this decade.
