Chris Dominguez went yard twice and drove in a season-high six runs as Louisville took care of visiting Ball State 9-3 Tuesday night.
Dominguez drilled a three-run shot in the fourth and then drove in two more runs with his Big East-leading 18th big fly in the sixth. He also hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Catcher Jeff Arnold and designated hitter Jeff Richmod also went deep for the Cards, who improved to 35-18.
Louisville will close out the regular season this weekend by hosting a three-game series with Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are currently in ninth-place in the Big East, and are one of three teams battling for the final spot in next week's conference tournament. The Cardinals - who are currently tied with Seton Hall for fourth place in the league - need a strong showing to both bolster their seed for next week, and improve their odds of earning an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Dan McDonnell will hand the ball to sophomore Justin Marks for game one, while senior Zack Pitts and freshman Bob Revesz will get the start for games two and three, respectively. First pitch for both Friday and Saturday's games are set for 6 p.m., with a 1 p.m. start scheduled for Sunday's regular season finale.
