The Cards held a second Red/White intrasquad scrimmage over the weekend, this time pitting the starters against the subs. As might have been expected, the Red squad (Samuels, Williams, Clark, Smith, McGee) rolled over the White 106-48.
Samardo Samuels led all scorers with 33 points, but Rick Pitino was most pleased with a healthy Terrence Williams, who scored 19 points, handed out nine assists, made two steals, blocked a shot and was on the finishing end of an alley-oop dunk.
"He’s our best basketball player by far," Pitino said. "There’s nobody even close to him because of everything he does. He’s our best defensive player. He’s our best passer. The best jumper. And he’s the smartest player. So he is the total package."
Andre McGee added 23 points and six assists, Jerry Smith scored 15, and Earl Clark finished with 16 points and eight boards.
Edgar Sosa missed the scrimmage with a hand injury forcing Preston Knowles to man the point. The sophomore managed to score 13 points, but was turned over 12 times.
