Cards will begin '08 campaign nationally ranked

I'm always amazed at how quickly college baseball creeps up on you. One minute you're watching a highly important late-season conference round ball game, and then bam, college baseball scores are scrolling across the bottom line. It's sort of like Fall, or my creepy next-door neighbor.

We're less than a month away from Louisville's Feb. 22 opener against Cleveland State (which is apparently going to be played at home), and when game day arrives the Cards will be taking the field as a nationally ranked squad.

U of L was tabbed as the 22nd best team in the country by Rivals.com in its preseason poll, and landed at No. 23 in both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers and Collegiate Baseball preseason polls.

After advancing to the College World Series for the first time in school history, Louisville finished the 2007 season ranked as high as sixth.
