What to watch: 1/21/08

Syracuse at Georgetown (7 p.m./ESPN)

The 'Cuse scored what seemed to be an NCAA Tournament bid-sealing win over the Hoyas late last season on Big Monday, but the story should be much, much different in the nation's capital tonight. The Orange are dressing just eight scholarship players, and are relying on three freshmen, a sophomore and a junior college transfer to produce nearly all their points.

Georgetown, on the other hand, is still Georgetown.

Iona at Rider (7 p.m./MSG/ESPN Full Court)

The MAAC (we've just got, like, one more A than the MAC, so that just, like, makes us, um, a little bit better) may very well be my favorite conference outside the Big East, and what Kevin Willard is doing with Iona has made this season all the more worth paying attention to. He will have his hands full on the road against Rider and the extremely watchable Jason Thompson tonight.

Texas at Oklahoma State (9 p.m./ESPN)

I suppose this is supposed to elicit memories of the triple overtime game last season, but I don't think I could be less excited about a Big Monday game. Serena Williams vs. Jelena Jankovic is probably a better bet. OR, you could write your own episode of Heroes to see if you can get this process headed in the right direction.

San Francisco at Gonzaga (Midnight/ESPN)

Eddie Sutton takes his first crack at 800. He doesn't get it.
