Garland High School (TX) speedster Jacques Caldwell committed to Louisville at the tail end of an unofficial visit on Thursday. He was visiting with teammate and five-star defensive end recruit Chancey Aghayere.
A tailback and free safety at Garland, Caldwell is listed on his recruiting profile as simply an athlete, and with good reason. The 5'9, 170-pounder was the Area Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2007, and runs a 4.4 forty-yard dash.
As a junior in 2006, Caldwell rushed for 734 yards and ten touchdowns, and racked up 400 yards receiving to go with five more touchdowns. He picked off two passes, forced a pair of fumbles, and recorded 36 tackles on defense. Like fellow class of '08 commit Damion Dixon, Caldwell also gets the job done in the classroom, maintaining a stellar 3.68 GPA.
Whether he likes it or not I'm afraid Jacque's ball carrying days are over, as he'll likely make the move to wide receiver or the permanent move to defensive back once he arrives on campus.
Wherever he ends up, the kid is crazy fast.
I'm golf scrambling (verb) all day Friday so that's it for now.
Peace, love, Cards.
