The less heralded of the two current class of '08 Cardinal commits, Melquan Bolding is yet another classic New York city guard who likes to push tempo and get to the rack. The 6-4, 180-pound shooting guard from Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains, NY isn't as highly touted as Jeff Withey, but he plays the type of game that U of L fans and Rick Pitino have come to adore.
Melquan sounds like a very well-spoken - albeit certainly not overly humble - young man. Hearing the now all-too-familiar "I love getting to the basket, but need to work on my jump shot" definitely made me cringe, but his shot actually looked pretty fluid in the video. His ability to score in the lane was impressive, but there is no shortage of players possessing the same ability on the current Cardinal roster.
It will be interesting to see how much Bolding can improve and thrive in a system that should be extremely conducive to his game.
