CC would like to give two big hip hip congratulations (yes that is the saying...pretty sure it is) to the men's and women's golf teams for capturing a pair of Big East championships.
For the women, it was their second straight title.
"Sweet swingin'" Cindy LaCrosse and Adrienne White finished 1-2 in the individual standings, and the duo made the final two puts in sudden death to take the team title from Notre Dame. White won the individual title a year ago.
The men left less to chance, rolling to a 12-stroke victory over the second place Irish.
Junior "Drivin'" Daryl Fathauer was the individual winner with a 7-under 209 total, two strokes ahead of Marquette's Mike Van Sickle and three ahead of teammates Adam Rainaud and Fathauer's identical twin, Derek Fathauer. Amazingly, Derek was the Big East individual champion a year ago.
"I think it's pretty cool," said Daryl Fathauer, who shot a final-round 70. "I can put up my trophy right up against his. Hopefully we can do it again next year. I don't want to give it back to him. ...We just want each other to play our best, add it up when we finish and see who wins."
The Cardinals automatically qualified for the NCAA Regionals, which will begin May 17, and for the Caddy Invitational, which will be held at Bushwood Country Club on May 3-5.
You can't get through a golf post without at least one.
