Deonta Vaughn scored 20 points, five of them in overtime, to lead Cincinnati to a 70-67 victory over Seton Hall on Wednesday that ended any chance the Pirates had to make next week's Big East Tournament.
The Bearcats had lost 10 in a row, one shy of a school-record 11-game losing streak in 1924-25. No other Cincinnati team has lost 10 straight.
The loss means that the Hall will have little to no motivation on Sunday when they end their season playing in Louisville against a Cardinal team looking to lock up a two or three seed in New York. Sunday is also Senior Day for the Cardinals, and is being advertised as a "Red Out" game.
A Seton Hall team with virtually nothing to play for against a Louisville team with a lot to play for in a great atmosphere sounds like a recipe for a blowout. We'll see in a few days.
