Who's ready for some good football news?
According to Rivals.com Cincinnati St. Xavier speedster Darius Ashley is headed to Louisville.
The 5-8, 185-pound tailback chose the Cards after narrowing his choices down to U of L and Virginia.
Ashley is rated as the 64th best running back in the country by Scout, and showed why last Friday when he rushed 23 times for 205 yards in the Bombers' 28-14 win over Moeller.
Now I don't want to play Danny Downer here, but we had five guys who are all going to be here next season carry the ball on Saturday, and we have two more pretty highly-touted guys redshirting. Ashley's going to, in all likelihood, redshirt next year, meaning that by the time he's officially a freshman, Stripling, Spencer and Bolen will all be gone. That still leaves Allen, Powell, Martin, Anderson and now Ashley as options in 2009. Of course in a world where injuries, dismissals and transfers reign supreme, two years is an eternity.
We didn't get the chance to see Ashley in action when St. X came to town to play Trinity, but his highlight reel is awfully impressive.
