Baton Rouge television station WAFB reported Thursday that No. 5 LSU has been invited to play in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. The station, citing information from a member of the Rose Bowl Board who spoke on the condition of anonymity, reported the Tigers will play either Michigan or Southern California.
"That's not true," Rose Bowl CEO Mitch Dorger told the Shreveport Times. "We have not made any final decisions at all. I think some people have gone out on a limb and are making assumptions. We will make our decision on Sunday."
So why would a Rose Bowl official possibly leak information to Baton Rouge television station saying otherwise?
Well, Tiger fans are now devouring Rose Bowl tickets, gobbling up 32,000 pre-sale orders at $135 per ticket.

People are out of the woodwork," he said. "Our phones are off the hook. I heard one guy in northern Arizona who hadn´t seen an LSU game in years. We have a lot of Marines at Camp Pendleton between San Diego and Los Angeles who are LSU fans and want to go. There´s huge interest in tickets."
"The LSU faithful will go to California in hordes" said LSU coach Les Miles, who coached in five Rose Bowls as a Michigan assistant in the 1980s and 1990s. "They will drag some people on the West Coast with them. We will have a purple and gold section that will rival any of our opponents."
Well it sadly seems like we can finally put our Sugar Bowl dreams to rest. How come no university offers a "running BCS bowl games" major? It seems like there's some good money there and it might have been something we would have given a shot. If nothing else you get to be a complete asshole, and let's face it, that's just plain fun.
