As if there was ever a doubt.
Louisville placekicker, and very likely your father, Art Carmody has been named by the Palm Beach County Sports Institute and Palm Beach County Sports Commission as a finalist for the 2006 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the FedEx Orange Bowl.
The other two finalists (bitches) are John Vaughn of Auburn and Garrett Hartley of Oklahoma.
The finalists will be honored at the 15th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet on Tuesday, December 5 at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott. The winner will be announced on Thursday, December 7 during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Award Show in Orlando, Florida.
Carmody is 16-of-17 on the year (94.1%), with a long of 51-yards. His only miss, against Kentucky, actually went through the goal posts, but the officials apparently weren't familiar with the rules of football. Carmody's two extra points and a field goal against Rutgers made him U of L's all-time leading scorer with 304 points, four more than Lenny Lyles (1954-57), and the kid is only a junior.
Congratulations Art, you truly are the best...around.
By the way if anyone this side of Art Carmody ever stared at us before a fight and proclaimed "you're history man, you're dead" we would immediately become 18 times more confident that we were about to kick that person's ass.
