Well our wish for weekend chaos was granted, but unfortunately U of L's shots at a TFBCS game still appears to hover around the 25% mark. The Cards come in at 10 in this week's TFBCS rankings after a three-point loss to an undefeated team, and are two spots behind another one loss team that they beat by 10. CC would also like to give a special "you're not cool" to all the coaches who not only voted Louisville behind West Virginia, but behind two-loss Texas. Not only do the Longhorns have one more loss than the Cardinals, but one of those losses came against a team Louisville beat by 18 on the road. It should also be noted that U of L held Kansas State (the unnamed team mentioned in previous sentence) to six points, while Texas' all-world defense just managed to keep the Wildcats under 50 in a 45-42 loss. God does anyone in the Big East play defense?
This guy voted Louisville behind West Virginia...and
Texas...and murder.
While other extremely chaotic and cool scenarios are possible, the most likely and easy to explain way for Louisville to crash the BCS (geeky costume) party would be for Rutgers to lose two of its remaining three games, leaving the Cardinals (assuming they win out) in a first-place tie with West Virginia (ditto) in which case U of L would get the bid by way of owning the upper hand in the head-to-head tie-breaker. The more likely possibility is that West Virginia will beat Rutgers and all three teams will tie for the conference title, in which case the bid will go to the team with the highest TFBCS ranking which, if today's rankings are any indication, will likely be the Mountaineers.
Of course with the our recent history against South Florida and the way the Bulls are currently playing, anyone assuming three wins could be in for a massive let down. Of course said person is likely just four days removed from a massive let down so maybe they'll be able to take it in stride. Anyhow, here's to chaos leading to outrage leading to a playoff leading to monkeys flying out of our ass.
