Brian Brohm apt to become worst Lambeau Leaper of all-time

I'm just gonna say what all of us here are thinking: Brian Brohm is better than Matt Ryan, he's better than Aaron Rogers, and he's at least 80 times better than Joe Flacco (coming to an NFL Europe team near you in 2013).

It just blows my mind that teams like the Bears (seriously? there's a reason your passing game has been the butt of jokes for like 15 years now) and the Vikings (I'm more accurate on passes over 20 yards downfield than Tarvaris Jackson...dead serious) feel like they can afford to pass over a player this accomplished when he's available in the second round. Hope that safety from Arkansas State is the real deal. Of course it's sort of hard to tell, since he spent the last four years fair-catching balls underthrown by 20 yards in the f%&#ing Sun Belt.

What it boils down to is that pro sports are just weird. There's no point in even attempting to understand half of the things that go on in the NFL or the NBA.

I do think that the best part about all of this is that there might not be another young quarterback out there who's better prepared to succeed a guy like Brett Favre than Brian Brohm. The kid has been dealing with insane pressure and hype since he was nine-years-old, and he's still been a superstar at every stage of his career. I know that Ted Thompson is saying that the starting job is 100% Rogers', and that's fine, but if he goes down with an injury or simply isn't getting the job done, is anybody going to be surprised when Brian steps in and immediately looks like a fifth-year All-Pro?

Yeah, I'm bitter about the way this whole thing played out, but the fact remains that Brohm is on an NFL team, and in a situation that I think could end up working out very well for him.

So congratulations to Brian Brohm, the first Green Bay Packer to have ever lost to me in a head-to-head quarterback battle (18-0).

Still on the board people.

Green Bay is a perfect fit for him.
How often do you get an opportunity to get a chance to replace one of the greatest quarterbacks in american football history?  I think that with this new offense that GB is trying to put together, paired along with a superstar quarterback, the NFL will be in for a surprise when Brohm steps up and starts making plays on the professional level.  I sincerely hope GB works out for him.

i LOL'd
I know, right.

Breno had a recent DUI, http://www.wlky.com/news/15666426/detail.html, so maybe that had something to do with it. But the only thing ESPN cited was Breno giving UK fans the middle finger this past season...

Brohm and Henne Similarities
In addition to sharing the same agent and being drafted back to back, both Brohm and Henne will be reunited with lineman who blocked for them in college, Breno Giacomini and Jake Long, respectively.

Brohm also joins 2 year veteran Guard/Center Jason Spitz, another former Cardinal who was drafted by Green Bay in 06.

I'm glad...
that Wesley Woodyard didn't get drafted.  That may sound mean but I still have on tape the play he made that almost ended Michael Bush's career.  I am SO glad that Woodyard never got the call.....proud of our guys and wish them good health and success in the NFL.

why
it wasnt even close to intentional

by GoCards5 on Apr 27, 2008 7:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Let it go!
Agreed; the injury was not premeditated, Woodyard made a nice tackle and unfortunately Bush's foot, then leg got pinned underneath Woodyard. The guy called Bush to apologize afterwards and Bush even said there was no need for that b/c it's just part of the game.

spinsters
obviously hindsight is 20/20 here, but this better than any other recent example at UofL shows why kids should go pro when they get the chance given that they're ready.
