Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

What to watch: 3/5/08

Duke at Virginia (7 p.m./ESPN)

It's Sean Singletary's second-to-last home game. They ought to have someone bring him every meal in bed for the next two weeks.

Syracuse at Seton Hall (7 p.m./ESPN2)

This one has huge ramifications as far as who we might play in the Big East quarterfinals. I can't tell you exactly what they are, but watch anyway.

Boston College at Miami (7 p.m./ESPNU)

Bush League once again ESPNU.

Minnesota at Indiana (7 p.m./Big Ten Network)

A win still won't put Tubby's team on the bubble, but it will get them closer to a five-seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which would enable them to avoid the three-headed slightly intimidating monster of Purdue/Indiana/Wisconsin in the first round.

Kentucky at South Carolina (7 p.m./WAVE-3/FSN South)

I don't think it's absolutely an at-large elimination game for the Cats, but it's close enough that UK better win.

St. John's at Notre Dame (7:30 p.m./MASN/ESPN Plus)

If the Johnnies can somehow snap the second-longest home winning streak in the country, then they may just earn themselves a trip, well, home.

Memphis at SMU (8 p.m./CSTV)

You are every bit as excited about this game as the Memphis players. The real question here is whether or not they can make it four straight almost fights before the game.

South Florida at Villanova (9 p.m./SNY/ESPN Plus)

I'm a little stunned that people are still saying Villanova has a shot an at-large. Regardless, they won't if they lose tonight.

Texas A&M at Baylor (9 p.m./ESPN2)

How many times do I have to say Texas A&M sucks before they forfeit the rest of their season?

Penn State at Wisconsin (9 p.m./Big Ten Network)

Kudos to whichever genius set up this late-season showdown.

Tennessee at Florida (9 p.m./FSN South)

Billy and the kids could certainly use this one.

Belmont vs. Campbell (9:30 p.m./CSS)

Could this be the first big upset of the postseason? The eighth-seeded Camels were one of just two A-Sun teams to knock off Belmont in the regular season.

Florida up at half
Up 55-42 AT HALF.  That's like 1.5 full big 10 games.

Anyway, it is hard to take too much from one half of one game, but I'll solider through to say:

  1. We need TN to pull this out so that there's still a chance to get in a bracket with TN as the 1.  I guess if they lose, they could drop down to the 2 line and we'd be a 3 -- that would be fine.  So nevermind -- go gators!
  2. Florida is clearly playing for the tourney lives in a tough home game.  Why does that sound familiar? Oh ya, like 4 of our 9 game win streak were against teams fighting for tourney life, and at least 1 on the road against a team that played almost a perfect game.
Just another reminder of how good we are, how good we are playing, and how impressive our 9-in-a-row and 15 of 17 really is.

3) No matter what, everything I watch I view in a "how does this relate to UofL" way.  Maybe that's a bad thing, but I don't think I'm the only one.
