Brian Brohm proves education pays...way less than pro football

Brian Brohm picked up one final amateur award yesterday before riding off into the glowing green NFL sunset. The former Louisville quarterback was named the 2007 Big East Conference/Aéropostale Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's academic affairs committee.

As a reward, Brohm will receive a $2,000 scholarship which may be applied to graduate or professional studies. OK, now raise your hand if you were able to read that last sentence without either laughing softly or coming up with a sarcastic one-liner in your head.

The Louisville native holds a 3.52 grade-point average as a finance major.

In addition to his academic work, Brohm has volunteered his time with the Louisville Cards Care program in a number of community service efforts, including visits to Kosair Children's Hospital and the St. Francis School in Louisville. To qualify for the Big East all-academic team, a player must have a GPA of at least 3.0, complete a minimum of two semesters of academic work and earn a letter during the 2007 season.

I think it's safe to say that this kid has the potential to be a phenomenal Executive Assistant in Training to the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Current Affairs at a mid-level business someday.

Hey, you can't play football your whole life...

a degree will help him significantly later in life. Darryl Griffith owns his own business now, and I guarantee his success there isn't related to the time when he was in the NBA.
