Rod Council kicked off team

Senior cornerback Rod Council has been dismissed from the football team after being arrested for committing an armed robbery early this morning in Haywood N.C.

WHAS-11 has the insane details.

Police ssay he robbed a Jonathan Valley convenience store Wednesday morning and was captured in Tennessee.

According to the incident report, Council allegedly entered the store about 4:15 a.m. and pulled what looked to be a 9mm Uzi on the clerk, who was the only other person in the store at the time.

The suspect demanded all the money and the clerk's cellular phone and fled the store. The store's security cameras were able to catch the suspect leaving in a silver Chevrolet Impala.

Police issued a BOLO -- "Be On The Lookout" -- for the suspect vehicle. A Tennessee State Highway Patrol trooper located the car at a rest area near mile marker 447 on Interstate 40 in Tennessee and detained the suspect until Haywood County detectives could arrive and take the suspect into custody.

I'm assuming he doesn't have class on Wednesdays.

U of L assistant sports information director, Rocco Gasparro, has released the following statement:

"We were informed today that senior cornerback Rod Council was arrested early this morning. Based upon the information we received, Rod Council has been permanently dismissed from our team immediately. We do not tolerate that type of behavior in our football program. Fortunately, no innocent bystanders were injured or harmed in the process."

Council started 10-of-12 games as a junior, and led the team in interceptions with two. He was suspended for Louisville's Nov. 17 game at South Florida for an unspecified violation of team rules, and was also suspended for one quarter in the season finale against Rutgers.

A SuperPrep All-American defensive back from West Charlotte (N.C.) High School, Council was arrested and charged with two felonies after he and an accomplice stole more than $16,000 worth of computer equipment from his high school in 2004. He was charged with breaking and entering and with larceny after breaking and entering.

A remarkably talented athlete, Council likely would have had a legitimate shot at being selected in the 2009 NFL Draft if he could have put together a solid senior season.

Great work Rod. Not only have you embarrassed yourself and the entire program, but you've just given me a horrifying glimpse into what life after March is going to be like.

Don't leave me Preston Knowles, don't you EVER leave me.

The school released his GPA
as a 4.0.

No joke.

Even if he didn't make the NFL, he would have a degree.

What a fucking retard.  Did you really need the $100 in the cash register?
