Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

What to watch: 2/11/08

Villanova at Georgetown (7 p.m./ESPN)

The Hoyas get stuck with Big Monday duty after playing a 9 p.m. road game on Saturday night. To make matters worse, they're going to take the best shot a desperate Villanova team has to offer. Don't be surprised if the Wildcats have a shot to pull the upset in the last four minutes.

Albany at Vermont (7:30 p.m./FSN New York/Comcast)

The Catamounts need to hold court in order to stay a game back of league-leading UMBC. Mike Trimboli enjoys balling out of control.

Kansas at Texas (9 p.m./ESPN)

Game of the night. Watch or be beaten in your sleep. Your call.

St. Mary's at Santa Clara (11 p.m./ESPN)

The Gaels are much less gooder on the road than they is at home, and it took Gonzaga overtime to win at SCU last week.

True story I will admit to
I was on vacation so did not go to the Rutgers game and did not know about the red lights in the pom poms.  Neither did the friend I took to the game.

As we came in, he saw the pom poms and grabbed a few and handed me one.  I quickly stuffed it in my pocket-- and told him he could wave his little pom poms, but not me.

When the lights went down, we saw the red sparkling lights--and realized somehow they were in the pom poms.  Not knowing quite how, we both quickly took our pom poms out and shook them vigorously and yelled.

Only later did we find... the switch... and  realize that our shaking real hard didn't quite make the magic happen.

But what we lacked in IQ

we made up for with spirit!   : - )

What the hell Bilas?
The last couple of games he's been correcting the officials with a certainty in his voice that's really annoying.

"That's a walk."

"That was a foul."

"That was a bad call."

I like Bilas, but when he does this it makes him sound like an ass even when he's right, and a huge ass when he's wrong.

Raftery rules.

Wow
That was a piss poor call to lose the game for Nova.

Also, is it me or does Hibbert look like a 7'2" Bubbles from the Wire?

I can see it
There are times when I think T-Will looks like Avon (played by Wood Harris, who was also Julius in Remember the Titans).

Terrible Call
But I guess the ends justify the means. Maybe that was just a "we're sorry we put your team out there on 1 1/2 day's rest against a fired up and underperforming talented squad" call. Maybe.

Either way, I'm very glad Gtown won, we don't need the best teams in the league watering their ratings down any more than they already have.
