Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

White Region First Round Results

Relative youth again reigns supreme in the White Region as Nate Johnson, Greg Minor and Dwayne Morton all spring minor upsets.

Here's how you voted:

  1. Pervis Ellison (99%) defeats 16. Ricky Gallon (1%)
  2. Nate Johnson (61%) defeats 8. Don Goldstein (39%)
  3. Herb Crook (95%) defeats 13. Manuel Forrest (5%)
  4. Samaki Walker (59%) defeats 12. Alvin Sims (41%)
  5. Clifford Rozier (86%) defeats 14. Jim Morgan (14%)
  6. Dwayne Morton (72%) defeats 6. Mike Grosso (28%)
  7. Greg Minor (84%) defeats 7. John Reuther (16%)
  8. Derek Smith (97%) defeats 15. Poncho Wright (3%)
Thanks again to all the Jurich-esque souls who voted, you all are the shish to my kabob.

The final session of first round voting will be up sometime later this week, but I'm not gonna tell you when because I enjoy keeping people on their toes more than Walter Bartoli. That's right, Walter Bartoli. Esoteric tennis jokes are about to take this blog over.

Open letter to Peter....
Peter, I saw your comment concerning my posts in Mike's last section.  Sorry, I come across as a OWG...or SOB

I lamely comment as best I can

my memory fading fast (but not that fast)

I don't mean to belittle any young or old Card fan

If you saw all my votes, you'd realize I have voted for both new and older Cards -- I  vote based on performance/stats, not pleasant memories

But when you've actually seen these players-- and I saw Unseld play-- you KNOW some things

I thought blogging and commentary were meant to be a  way to have a little fun, be corny, to be have some good-natured  back and forth kidding, sometimes cross-generationally a bit...

FYI, Peter,  I contribute as much as I do because I like what Mike is doing and I don't see much activity in the posts-- and some activity is what helps give his blog a personal "community" feel.

Anyway, just a few more thoughts...

Frank

No Flame Wars, again
I saw your last (same) post but Ill play ball again....

Im not trying to start anything with anyone. I dont want to turn the CC's message boards into anything other than a venue for talking about the Cards. It just seemed to me that you were you being condescending to anyone who voted differently or voted for more recent players. Maybe I was having a bad day, yesterday. No worries. We are all here for the Love of the Cards, and that is why we remain.

To wrap it up: Im more sorry then Evonne Goolagong after she lost her fourth straight Grand Slam match to Billy Jean King. Are we still doing the tennis jokes thing?

You guys are stepping up more than Pete Sampras in the '97 Davis Cup.
