Derby Classic Participants Announced

The list of players for the 2007 Adidas Kentucky Derby Festival All-Star Classic was released Monday, and headlining the field is the nation's top-rated player, Kansas State bound Michael Beasley.

The 27th installment of the annual game will be played on April 14 in Freedom Hall.

Beasley, a 6-9 senior forward from famed Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts, scored 30 points in the inaugural National Prep Championship game to lead the Crusaders to a 107-80 victory over IMG Academy.

Joining Beasley in the Louisville will be Texas A&M (tear) signee DeAndre Jordan, a top ten recruit at the number two center in the country according to Rivals. Top 25 recruits Anthony Randolph, Jamelle Horne, Herb Pope and Austin Daye will also be playing in this year's game.

Louisville signee George Goode and Kentucky signees Mike Williams and A.J. Stewart will also be playing in the game, as will Duke signee Nolan Smith, the son of former Cardinal great Derek Smith.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 13 with "The Night of the Future Stars" at Bellarmine University. The event will feature a slam-dunk contest as well as a two-on-two competition and a three-point shootout. The Classic will be played at 7 p.m. the next night in Freedom Hall.
