Around SBN: Can Tebow Say No To Anything?

Louisville 41, Rutgers 38

For one night it didn't matter.

The disappointment, the rumors, the dissent, none of it existed.

We saw the future as Bilal Powell completely took the game over in the second half. We saw the defense finally get the big stop when it needed to the most. We saw the dream team of Brian Brohm and Harry Douglas hook-up one more time on the biggest play of the game's biggest drive. And then we saw college football's most accomplished kicker seal the deal by drilling the first game-winner of his collegiate career in his final game as a Louisville Cardinal.

And did I mention that all this came at the expense of a team that broke the collective heart of the city of Louisville by handing the Cards their only loss in all of 2006?

At least we had tonight.

I just don't want to go to sleep.

Go Cards.

Yes, we knew you were floating around
somewhere

After I dragged my own frozen rear end home

and made my own post around 1 am

and saw your fingers hadn't been busy yet.

In a righteous heaven, I saw you laughing and knocking back shots with Brian and Art-- while K looked up thirstily.  (And hope you did get a chance to celebrate at least some with them.)

It is amazing
You do forget everything.

All the bad was suddenly washed away in that 4th qtr tidal wave of momentum and emotion.

A final magic carpet ride, for the few frozen fans that remained...

And then, I woke up

What a way to go out....
....for Brian, Harry, Art and the rest of the seniors.

If we looked like we did in the 4th quarter in our 6 losses (or even our 5 other wins), we'd be booking tickets to New Orleans as we speak.

So many emotions last night, and when we look back at the season last night's win will probably soften the hard feelings (although there's always the what-if, and the 4th quarter as proof of what the team could have been).

Over the next few weeks, as the inevitable coaching changes come and Kragthorpe names names on the "off the field" issues, it might get pretty hard to watch.

But as I was leaving last night, I had two thoughts: I can't believe I'm never going to see Brohm to Douglas in PJCS again, and I can't wait for the spring game.

Amen, Mike
Man, as bad this season has gone, I did forget for one night. Simply incredible. I'm really gonna miss these seniors. They are a very special group.
Kentucky fans are bitches.

Storybook Ending?
Not quite. But given EVERYTHING that has happened this season, I couldnt have asked for a more dramatic and exciting ending to the most disappointing season in history. This group of Seniors are some of the best athletes to don the Cardinal uniforms and I am so happy that they got that last win. Something to hang their head high. It makes even the most stoic, manly men get misty eyed. Not me though. Im too macho for that shit. I had something in my eye.

I'm glad
I was rooting for you guys to pull off the win last night, for all the reasons Mike listed. Well done.

Mike, I know
there are few bowl invitations left and virtually no chance the Cards will play again this year, but isnt there a spot for a Cardinal team that makes games interesting and fun to watch for casual fans? The offense scores lots of points and the defense is just good enough (bad enough) to keep games interesting and allow the other school to score a lot as well. I think that football fans would love to see a high scoring shootout with a future first round draft pick at the helm.

I think
that if it came down to a choice of all the at-large 6-6 teams, Louisville would likely be the most attractive choice - mainly because of Brian - and we would end up bowling (sorry Northwestern). The thing is, it's not going to get down the 6-6 at-large teams because of the number of teams that are bowl eligible and because of the 7-5 at-large teams that must be taken ahead of us.

It's just not going to happen, and given the way the season ended last night, I'm not sure I want it to.

You know, I agree, Mike
Going out magically at home

and avoiding  the ultimate stain of a  losing record.

No real desire to see Brian relegated to some real Toilet Bowl.

We must let him go now,

although  ^sniff^  none of us may want it after that last show.
