It's nowhere near funny anymore
Last night marked one of the lowest points in my relatively short but celebrated life as a U of L fan.
I'm no longer sad, I'm not disappointed, and I'm not overly pessimistic about the rest of the season anymore; I am completely and utterly furious.
I'm mad at Charlie Stubbs, who continues to show that he is the worst play caller this side of my deceased great great grandmother. I'm mad at the Big East officiating crew that botched a call worse than I've ever seen during a Louisville football game, and completely shifted the momentum of the contest. And I'm mad at Steve Kragthorpe, a man who - there's no reason to beat around the bush anymore - I have absolutely zero confidence in as a head coach.
This can't be saved anymore. The most anticipated season in the history of Louisville football is officially a complete abomination.
I don't really have anything else to say at the moment besides GIVE BILAL POWELL THE FUCKING BALL.

I'm not so much mad
Here's how my feelings have progressed through the losses this year:
UK - Anger
Cuse - Embarrassment
Utah - Confusion
UConn - Whatev
I didn't really feel anything at all throughout the UConn game either way. Nothing at the botched fair catch call. Nothing when Heyman returned the fumble for a TD (although I thought we had put the game away there). Nothing after the loss was final. Just numb the entire way through.
I don't know if it's just a result of the lowered expectations where results like these are at least likely, if not to be expected entirely; or if it's just some subconscious defensive mechanism like, "If you don't get your hopes up, you can't be disappointed."

To feel better, just do what I did
http://www.cardchronicle.com/story/2007/2/18/223853/198
Then repeat "Baskteball season will wash my pain away. Basketball season will wash my pain away. Basketball season will wash my pain away."
On the other hand, you could just get a box of tissues, cry for a few hours, eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's, drink a fifth of Wild Turkey, pass out, and wake up tomorrow feeling so bloated and hung over that you just don't give a shit anymore.

The only thing that worries me is that Jurich may
I think he's tough enough --and committed enough -- to righting the FBall program that is the "cash cow" and which is his personal pride and joy.
I trust Jurich's instincts. No one is perfect. He is generally a great judge of talent. He tried to buy, on the cheap again, a new unproven coach again -- but he made a mistake this time. BTW at the time virtually everyone in the national media thought it was a great hire. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I don't think K will never be an elite coach (top ten), and maybe not consistently top 20 which has been our standard for a decade.
But we now aspire to more -- so in retrospect we probably really needed a proven Rick Pitino -level FBall coach hire this time. Pay the extra bucks. (Have two of the hottest proven coaches in the country like we had in '86 with Denny and Schnell.) But maybe one was not available at the time--I forget now.
The smartest thing for Jurich: Voice support for K but pull the trigger at the end of the season (if K is less than 7-5-- which is still pathetically low in my mind but...)

Jurich's "instincts"
If he were objective, he'd realize that Krag has had modest success, not major success. This guy has lost 5 games every season he was at Tulsa, and that's supposed to be brilliant?
Give me a break. And give me another head football coach. Please.
