Pretty good article about ESPN and Conference Expansion

http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2012-articles/february/acc-extension-shows-espns-shrewd-control-over-competition-and-expansion.html

Given that this week talk began HEATING UP that Clemson and FSU were bound for the Big 12 (a lot of shite if you ask me) this is a story that will never die... WVU is gone next year and the big 12 paid a TON to make it happen. My only question is with Boise coming next year, Memphis in the fold for all sports, is Louisville really going to bolt (god I hope so).

Will Dieng be in the top 10 and do we want him to be?

Around the 12th of every month rivals.com via yahoo ranks the top players by position. Last month rivals ranked 'centers' and had Gorgui Dieng listed as #12. Check it out: http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/viewcbse.asp Just select "centers" on the drop down menu.

Here are the guys listed above Gorgui:

1. Sullinger, OSU

2. Davis, UK

3. Jones III, Baylor

4. Zeller, N. Carolina

5. Zeller, Indiana

6. Yarou, Villanova

7. Sarce, Gonzaga

8. Young, Florida

9. Drummond, UConn

10. Ezeli, Vanderbilt

11. Gates, Cincinatti.

Gorgui has already played against Yarou and Drummond. He owned both of them, so you would think he would move into the top 10 at least. He may go higher since Gates has about the same averages in points/rebounds, but less blocks.

So where would you rank Gorgui amoungst other big men in the country? How high do you think rivals will rank him? Do we want him to get too good? After all, if he were to leave after this year then we don't have anyone that can really replace him.

Depaul Day II: Chicago Edition

Cards fans! I know many of you are attending the all important second coming of Depaul day, and many of you probably just wish you could. Here's an opportunity.

I live in Chicago and will be attending the game with two of my siblings and five of our native friends whom we have transformed into Cardinal basketball faithful. When I bought these tickets, I had a boyfriend and a friend who would never ditch a Louisville game for a volleyball tournament. However, things change. That's life.

So, I have two tickets in a lower corner that I bought for $51 each. I still have friends I'm shopping them around to, but also it could be an opportunity for some CC-er in Chicago to hang with a bunch of other Cards fans or something like that. I donnt know, I'm probably drunk right now.

So let me know if you're interested. Glad to negotiate with any non-creep (I could waver on that) Louisville fans.

Go Cards!

Justice over Henderson?

Pointless post of the day....just food for thought....and maybe its the lesser of 2 evils.....

I am surprised that we dont see or hear more discussion about whether we should see more of Tim Henderson and less of Elijah Justice. Justice might be able to distribute the ball but he hasnt shown the ability to shoot at all and his assist to TO makes it hard to be comfortable with him even as a spot backup for Siva. Maybe statistics are misleading but they seem to favor Henderson.

Justice has played more minutes than Henderson (97 to 57), both shoot under 40% from the field (39% to 36%), they average the same pts per game (1.3), and have the same total rebounds (9 each).

Henderson shoots better from 3 pt (3/7 vs 1/10) and has an even 1:1 assist to TO with 8 each (Justice has 8 assists and 11 TOs).

Justice has a lot of steals per minutes played with 8 total in 97 minutes but he has also committed 15 fouls which is extremely high.

I just dont see what the difference is. I am sure that most will just say, "CRP sees practice and just trust that". I get that but CRP does seem to play a lot of favorites too.

I dont see every game because I live in the Philippines but from what I have seen, Henderson even passes the eye test. That doesnt mean he should see significant minutes but I dont see that his play justifies seeing so much less floor time than Justice.

Gorgui Dieng Wallpaper

Just finished up a new Gorgui Dieng Wallpaper. He has been one of our most consistent players this year, and is quickly becoming a fan favorite. It is amazing how much he has improved in his short time here, and all signs point to more improvement in the future. It seems like every game he shows a post move I haven't seen from him yet, and his list of moves is obviously growing. Beyond being great on the court, his attitude is something that you see less and less of in college basketball. He is a hard worker, loves the game, and would do anything to help the team. And for that, he gets a new wallpaper (I'm sure that wasn't at the top of his wish list, but it'll have to do).

Why did we not see Fat Wayne last night?

I know this has been over analyzed and over analyzed, but I still can't come up with a logical explanation of why we Didn't see fat wayne last night. It would seem that if he were going to make a comeback it would have been last night up nearly 30. All of the back ups got in the game except for Blackshear, and he is the one that seemingly has the most potential to contribute as a back up. (This is probably arguable I know, but surely he has the potential to contribute as much as a guy like Ware or Nunez right now). The only reason I can come up with is that Pitino wants to put him in on the road. Is he still having health issues? It just almost seems like there is something else going on here that no one really knows about. Either way, if he doesn't play against WVU, I might be giving up on the possibility of seeing him this year. Thoughts???

Kyle Kuric is the 2nd Greatest Player EVER!

Today on SportsNation's 3 Cheers, Kyle Kuric earned the "3 Cheers" for his dunk against UCONN. After they showed the monster slam, Colin said "Now he is the 2nd greatest player ever." A little background: They were debating on whether or not Kobe Bryant was the 2nd greatest player ever after Michael Jordan. After that segment they played the 3 Cheers, and after every play, Colin said that that player was the 2nd best, but the King was last, and best.

Why So Many Empty Seats?

I have an honest question that may interest most of you. First of all, let me be very clear that this is not a disrespectful post toward the team, coaching staff, individual player(s), or the fans. Please know that I just have an honest question and have never read anything about this in the past, but I could have missed it if it were.

My father & I attended last night's game. We sat in section 324 seats 15 and 16. As the game was about to tip- off, my dad asked me, "Is this thing not sold out?" As I scanned the gorgeous KFC Yum! Center I understood what he was asking. Even in our section there were 7 empty seats next to us and in front of us. As I looked over the lower level seats I saw rows of unused seats that were empty the entire game. I've heard that the crowd exceeded 21,000, but I honestly have to take issue with that.

There we were on the ESPN Big Monday Prime Time game and we had MANY empty and unused seats! Why? I cannot understand why the seats are not being sat in? For us to come to a game requires 8 hours. 2 & half up there, 2 & a half at the game, & 2 and a half coming home. We set in upper level seats because that's all we can seem to get, but lower level prime time seats are empty! Why! If you live in the 'Ville or within a 30 minute drive to the Arena, why are you not there? Are you not using your tickets?

Last Christmas my family & I played "Dirty Santa" with gift exchanges of fun items. I took a calendar of some industrial company that we do business with & inside of it I wrapped up this year's poster with Kyle & Chris on it. In my family are a bunch of pUKe fans so I knew I'd get'em with the poster. However, when they opened it up, the first thing they said was, "Look at all the empty seats! Ha ha! LOL! You all build a 22,000 seat arena & you can't even fill it! We (pUKe) fill our house every night. Y'all can't even give your tickets away!!!" So I guess I'm asking: "Why are we not filling up the Yum! Center? And, if you have lower arena seats & you're not using them...CALL ME! I'll drive from the Central Time Zone to be there if you won't!

"...And STILL, the Undefeated UofL Card Fan..."

RURALVILLEFAN!!!! WOW! What a night! As my father & I sat in Section 324 and witnessed one the greatest stretches of basketball in the second half- I was stoked! The UConn game was my third game this year (Ohio & Memphis were the other 2). It was exciting & entertaining and so much fun to watch. For the eleventh time in my life (fifth time with my father) I witnessed the U of L Cards live & in person. The 159 mile one- way drive to the KFC Yum! Center was well worth it in every way. We took the defending National Champions & just flatout kicked them down! Kyle's dunk was just NASTY! I sent my wife & daughters a text that said, "Kyle is just NASTY!" I can see this team starting to turn. We still have some tuff- tuff games ahead, but with us playing the way we did tonight, We can feel confident that we have a legit shot to win out! Not saying we will, but we sure need to win at least 4 more. I'd love to be at every one of them! Go CARDS!
