Louisville has lost its second former U.S. Army All-American of the offseason with Nick Dawson-Brent's announcement that he intends to transfer elsewhere for his senior season. Dawson-Brents graduated from U of L in December, and will be eligible to play his final season somewhere else in 2016.
Dawson-Brents' recruitment (back then it was just Dawson) was one of the most heavily-followed by Louisville fans in 2011-12. The Georgia native ultimately picked U of L over the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Tennessee.
Things never really went according to plan for Dawson-Brents at Louisville. After redshirting the 2012 season, he notched just 13 tackles in his first active season of 2013 and just five a season later. Dawson-Brents was equally ineffective this season, recording tackles in just two games -- the regular season opener against Auburn and the regular season finale against Kentucky.
Louisville linebacker Keith Brown announced earlier in the week that he also plans to transfer for his senior season.
Best of luck to Nick going forward.
