Both Louisville fans and the rest of the country are going to hear this name a lot more over the next few weeks.
Miami's Zack Collins has been voted the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, while Louisville's Brendan McKay garnered Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Collins powered Miami to a perfect week, hitting .692 with team-high totals of nine hits, three home runs and 14 RBIs. He connected for a home run in each of the team's three games in a sweep of NYIT, including a grand slam Sunday. The sophomore catcher from Pembroke Pines, Florida, slugged 1.615 over the week with three multi-hit games, walking six times, striking out none and reaching base at an .810 clip. Collings tied a career high with four hits in the opener against NYIT, and had four RBIs in all three games against the Bears to be named ACC Player of the Week for the second straight time.
McKay continued his impressive rookie campaign on Saturday by holding No. 10 Florida State without a hit in 6.1 innings of shutout work as No. 2 Louisville clinched the 2015 ACC Atlantic Division championship with a 7-0 win at Jim Patterson Stadium. The two-way player from Darlington, Pennsylvania, added six strikeouts to improve to 8-1 on the season and lower his ERA to just 1.65 overall.
When all's said and done, McKay is going to wind up leaving U of L as one of the best to ever put on a Cardinal uniform.
